Overview
Expert revision and complex breast implant surgery by a specialist team
Corrective breast surgery addresses problems that arise from previous implant procedures or changes that develop over time. Common reasons patients seek revision include implant rupture, capsular contracture, implant asymmetry, high-riding or visibly positioned implants, and waterfall deformity. Many patients presenting for the first time have already undergone two or more previous breast procedures.
Our surgeon, Mr Verjee, operates using a two-consultant model for complex cases, drawing on extensive experience of difficult chest wall and secondary breast reconstruction from NHS practice. This approach is in line with best practice for demanding revision surgery and provides an additional layer of safety and expertise.
Revision surgery can involve changing implant size or type, repositioning implants from under the muscle to a more natural plane, reconstructing the overlying muscle to its original position, and correcting skin laxity with a lift. Redo breast reduction and breast reconstruction following cancer treatment, with or without implants, are also performed.

FAQs
Frequently asked questions
What is capsular contracture?
Capsular contracture occurs when the scar tissue that normally forms around an implant tightens and hardens. It can cause the breast to feel firm, appear distorted or become uncomfortable. Surgical release and implant exchange is the most effective treatment.
What is animation deformity?
Animation deformity occurs when an implant placed beneath the pectoral muscle moves or distorts when the muscle contracts. Correcting it usually involves relocating the implant to a different plane and reconstructing the muscle back to its original position.
Can my implants simply be removed rather than replaced?
Yes. Many patients choose to have implants removed altogether. Where there is excess or stretched skin, a breast lift at the same time can restore a natural shape without any new implant.
Why is a two-consultant team used for complex cases?
Complex revision surgery in the breast is technically demanding and time-intensive. A two-consultant approach provides additional expertise, reduces fatigue-related risk during longer procedures and reflects best practice for challenging reconstructive work.
Can you perform revision on surgery done elsewhere?
Yes. Many patients consult Mr Verjee after procedures carried out by other surgeons. A full assessment at consultation establishes the best course of action regardless of where the original surgery took place.
How much does corrective breast surgery cost?
Pricing depends on the complexity of the revision and what is agreed for you and is confirmed in writing at your consultation, with no obligation to proceed.
