Overview
Advanced Direct Hair Implantation for permanent, natural-looking hair restoration
DHI (Direct Hair Implantation) is an advanced form of Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) hair transplant surgery that offers permanent, natural-looking hair restoration. Each hair follicle is extracted individually from the donor area and transferred directly to the recipient site without the use of scalpels or stitches, which reduces the risk of follicle damage and promotes faster healing.
The precision tools used have a diameter of 1mm or less, allowing natural-looking density and direction to be achieved. The result is a hairline and coverage that blends seamlessly with your existing hair, with no visible scarring at the donor site.
DHI hair transplant is available through Maison Restorative in partnership with our specialist provider. Consultations can be arranged at our clinic in Jersey, giving you access to this life-changing procedure without travelling abroad.

What to expect
Your treatment journey
- 1
Consultation
Your suitability is assessed, donor and recipient areas are evaluated, and a personalised restoration plan is discussed including the expected number of grafts and hairline design.
- 2
Procedure
Under local anaesthetic, individual follicles are extracted from the donor area and implanted directly at the recipient site using specialised DHI tools. There are no incisions, stitches or linear scars.
- 3
Recovery and growth
The transplanted follicles shed initially, which is normal. New hair begins to grow within a few months, with the full result visible at nine to twelve months after the procedure.
FAQs
Frequently asked questions
Is DHI different from standard FUE?
Yes. Standard FUE involves creating recipient channels before implantation, whereas DHI implants each follicle directly using a specialised tool (the Choi implanter pen) in one step. This reduces the time follicles spend outside the body and gives more precise control over angle and direction.
Will the results look natural?
Yes. The technique allows precise placement of each follicle to mimic the natural growth pattern, direction and density of your existing hair. There is no visible scarring at the donor site.
Is the procedure permanent?
The transplanted follicles are taken from areas genetically resistant to hair loss, so the results are permanent. The surrounding hair that was not transplanted may continue to thin naturally over time.
What is the recovery like?
Most patients experience mild redness and some shedding of the transplanted hairs in the first few weeks, which is a normal part of the process. Most people feel comfortable returning to work within a few days to a week.
When will I see the full result?
New hair begins to emerge within three to four months. The final, full result is usually visible at nine to twelve months after the procedure.
How much does a DHI hair transplant cost?
Pricing depends on the number of grafts and the plan agreed for you and is confirmed in writing at your consultation, with no obligation to proceed.
