Overview
Precise surgical body contouring to remove stubborn fat deposits that resist diet and exercise
Liposuction is the most effective surgical method for removing localised fat deposits from specific areas of the body. It is a body contouring procedure rather than a weight loss solution, and it works best for patients who are at or near a healthy weight but have stubborn areas of fat that do not respond to diet or exercise.
Common treatment areas include the abdomen, hips, flanks, chest, arms, inner and outer thighs, and knees. We offer Power-Assisted Liposuction (PAL) and, where appropriate, RENUVION skin tightening to address both fat reduction and skin quality in the same session.
Liposuction is also routinely performed in combination with other body surgery, such as a tummy tuck, arm lift or thigh lift, where it helps refine the overall contour and produce the most harmonious result. A thorough consultation is essential to assess which approach is best suited to your body and goals.

What to expect
Your treatment journey
- 1
Consultation
Your surgeon assesses the areas of concern, discusses your goals and recommends the most appropriate technique and combination of treatments for your body and expectations.
- 2
Surgery
Performed under general anaesthetic, fat is removed through small incisions using a cannula. Where indicated, RENUVION skin tightening can be performed in the same session to address skin laxity.
- 3
Recovery and follow-up
A compression garment is worn during the recovery period to support healing and help the skin conform to the new contour. We will see you at follow-up appointments to monitor your progress.
Aftercare
Wear your compression garment as directed and avoid strenuous activity until your surgeon advises it is safe to resume. Some swelling and bruising is normal and will gradually resolve over several weeks. Attend all follow-up appointments so your surgeon can assess your progress and ensure the result is developing as planned. Maintaining a stable weight after surgery is important for preserving your results long term.
FAQs
Frequently asked questions
Is liposuction a weight loss procedure?
No. Liposuction is a body contouring procedure designed to remove localised fat deposits in specific areas. It is most effective for patients at or near a healthy weight who have stubborn areas that do not respond to diet and exercise. It is not a solution for general overweight or obesity.
Which areas can be treated with liposuction?
Common treatment areas include the abdomen, hips, flanks, chest, arms, inner and outer thighs and knees. During your consultation your surgeon will assess the specific areas you are concerned about and advise on what is achievable.
What is RENUVION and can it be combined with liposuction?
RENUVION is a skin tightening technology that can be used alongside liposuction to address skin laxity in the same session. It may be recommended depending on the area being treated and your skin quality. Your surgeon will discuss this at consultation.
Can liposuction be combined with other surgery?
Yes. Liposuction is frequently performed alongside procedures such as a tummy tuck, arm lift or thigh lift to refine the overall body contour. Your surgeon will advise on the best combination for your goals.
Are the results permanent?
The fat cells removed by liposuction do not return. However, significant weight gain after surgery can affect the result, as remaining fat cells can still enlarge. Maintaining a stable weight after your procedure helps preserve the outcome long term.
How much does liposuction cost?
Pricing depends on the areas treated and what is agreed for you and is confirmed in writing at your consultation, with no obligation to proceed.
