Overview

Restore a lifted, youthful breast shape and nipple position without implants

A breast uplift, or mastopexy, addresses drooping of the breast, a low nipple position and excess skin that has developed through ageing, pregnancy or weight change. During the procedure the breast tissue is repositioned higher on the chest wall, the nipple is raised and any surplus skin is removed to create a firmer, more youthful contour.

Unlike augmentation, a breast uplift does not significantly change the volume of the breast. It is an excellent option for patients who are happy with their size but want to address shape, position and firmness without introducing an implant. For those who want both a lift and additional volume, augmentation and mastopexy can be performed together in a single operation.

Our surgeons take care to preserve nipple sensation and blood supply throughout the procedure, and the detailed surgical plan is agreed with you at consultation.

Is it right for me?

Breast uplift suits anyone whose breasts have lost their shape or position due to ageing, pregnancy or weight change, and who wants improvement in contour and nipple position rather than a change in overall size.

What to expect

Your treatment journey

  1. 1

    Consultation

Your surgeon assesses the degree of drooping, discusses whether a lift alone or a combined procedure best meets your goals, and explains the likely scar pattern.

  2. 2

    Surgery

Performed under general anaesthetic, the breast tissue is repositioned, the nipple raised and excess skin removed. Incisions are closed carefully to minimise scarring.

  3. 3

    Recovery and follow-up

You will receive a supportive bra and detailed wound-care guidance. Follow-up appointments allow your surgeon to monitor healing and ensure you are pleased with your result.

Aftercare

Wear the surgical support bra as directed and keep wound sites clean and dry. Avoid strenuous exercise, swimming and heavy lifting during the initial recovery period. Some swelling and firmness is normal and settles over several weeks. We will review you at scheduled appointments to assess healing and scarring, and are available at any point if you have questions.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Will a breast uplift increase my size?

No. Mastopexy reshapes and raises the breast without significantly changing volume. If you also want increased size, a breast implant can be added in the same procedure.

Will sensation be preserved?

Preserving nipple sensation and blood supply is a priority in how the procedure is planned. Most patients retain sensation, though some temporary change is common and usually resolves over months.

What scarring will I have?

Scars typically run around the areola and vertically down toward the breast crease; some patients also have a scar along the breast crease. All scars fade significantly with time and your surgeon will explain the expected pattern at your consultation.

Can I have the procedure if I plan future pregnancies?

Pregnancy after mastopexy can affect the result. Your surgeon will discuss timing and expectations with you so you can make a well-informed decision.

Can uplift be combined with reduction?

Yes. Breast reduction already incorporates an uplift as part of the procedure, addressing both volume and shape at the same time.

How much does a breast uplift cost?

Pricing depends on the surgical plan agreed for you and is confirmed in writing at your consultation, with no obligation to proceed.
