Overview

What are lip fillers?

Lip fillers at Maison Restorative are about balance and proportion, not volume for its own sake. We use premium hyaluronic acid fillers from the Restylane and Juvéderm ranges, which hydrate and gently define the lips rather than simply bulking them out. The result is a refreshed, naturally beautiful appearance that complements your features.

Our lips lose volume gradually from the late twenties onwards, and some patients are simply born with thinner lips they would like to enhance. HA fillers can restore shape, define the cupid's bow, improve symmetry and add subtle projection, all with results that settle beautifully over the days following treatment.

Because hyaluronic acid fillers are not permanent, the look can be adjusted over time. Each treatment is planned around your individual facial proportions, and we always err on the side of natural, with a consultation before every course of treatment.

What to expect

What to expect from Lip Fillers

  1. Step 1

    Consultation

Your practitioner discusses what you are hoping to achieve, assesses your lip shape and facial proportions, and selects the right filler product and placement plan for you.

  2. Step 2

    Treatment

Numbing cream is applied for comfort, then the filler is injected precisely. The appointment typically takes under an hour, and results are visible immediately.

  3. Step 3

    Aftercare

Some swelling and tenderness for a day or two is normal and settles quickly. The final result is best assessed at around two weeks once the product has fully settled.

Aftercare

Lips swell more than any other treated area, and swelling is usually at its worst over the first 24 to 72 hours before settling. Apply a cold compress gently over the first evening, sleep with your head slightly raised, and drink plenty of water. Do not massage or press the lips unless your practitioner has asked you to. Keep lipstick and make-up off for at least 12 hours, and avoid very hot drinks, spicy food and drinking through a straw on the first day. Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, steam rooms, hot baths and alcohol for 24 to 48 hours, and postpone dental work for around two weeks. If you are prone to cold sores, tell your practitioner beforehand, as treatment can trigger an outbreak and preventative medication can be arranged. Small lumps in the first days are common and usually soften as the product settles; the final result is best judged at around two weeks. Contact the clinic immediately, and out of hours if necessary, if you develop severe or increasing pain, blanching or a white or dusky discolouration around the lips or nose, or any change in your vision.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions about Lip Fillers

Will my lips look natural?

Yes. We take a less-is-more approach and plan every treatment around your individual proportions. Our aim is a beautifully shaped, natural result rather than an obviously treated appearance.

What filler products do you use?

We use premium hyaluronic acid fillers from the Restylane and Juvéderm VYCROSS ranges. These are designed specifically for the lip area and produce soft, elegant results.

How long do results last?

Results typically last around six months, though this varies between individuals and can be longer with top-up treatments. Your practitioner will advise at consultation.

Is the treatment painful?

Numbing cream is applied before treatment to keep discomfort to a minimum. Most patients find the procedure very tolerable, though lips are a sensitive area and some mild stinging can be expected.

Can the results be reversed?

Yes. Hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved using an enzyme called hyaluronidase if needed, though this is rarely required when treatment is planned carefully from the outset.

How much do lip fillers cost?

Pricing depends on the product and amount agreed for you and is confirmed in writing at your consultation, with no obligation to proceed.
