Overview
Precise, minimally invasive treatment for spider veins and facial redness
Veinwave uses a technique called thermocoagulation to close and destroy tiny blood vessels instantly. An ultra-fine insulated needle is placed at the surface of the skin above the vessel; a brief pulse of energy heats the vessel walls, causing them to collapse and disappear on the spot.
Because the needle does not pierce the vessel itself and is insulated along most of its length, the surrounding skin is left unaffected. The treatment is particularly well suited to very fine spider veins on the face and chest that are too delicate for laser or sclerotherapy.
Sessions are quick, and with topical anaesthetic the procedure is well tolerated. Most patients see the treated vessels clear immediately, though some redness or minor skin reaction may be present for a short time afterwards.
Benefits
Why patients choose this treatment
- Clears spider veins instantly at the time of treatment
- Effective on very fine vessels not treatable by laser or sclerotherapy
- Suitable for the face, chest, knees, ankles and other bony areas
- Insulated needle protects surrounding skin
- Quick sessions with minimal recovery
- No scarring with correct aftercare
Is it right for me?
Veinwave is ideal for anyone bothered by fine spider veins or persistent redness on the face, chest or legs, especially in areas where the vessels are too small or too delicate for other treatments.
What to expect
Your treatment journey
- 1
Consultation
We assess the vessels you wish to treat, confirm Veinwave is appropriate for you and discuss what to expect from results.
- 2
Treatment
Topical anaesthetic is applied for comfort. The practitioner works along each vessel with the fine probe; treated vessels collapse and clear immediately during the session.
- 3
Aftercare
The treated area should be kept clean and protected from sun exposure. Minor redness or a slight skin reaction is normal and settles quickly.
FAQs
Frequently asked questions
What is thermocoagulation?
Thermocoagulation uses a tiny pulse of heat energy to close the wall of the blood vessel, causing it to collapse and be reabsorbed by the body. The vessel disappears immediately during treatment.
Why is Veinwave used instead of laser?
Very fine spider veins on the face are often too small and delicate to target safely with a laser or to inject with sclerotherapy. Veinwave's ultra-fine probe can treat even the tiniest vessels precisely, without affecting the skin above.
Is it painful?
With topical anaesthetic applied beforehand, most patients find the procedure very well tolerated. You may feel a brief warming sensation as each vessel is treated.
How many treatments will I need?
Many patients achieve a good result in one or two sessions. The number depends on the extent of the veins being treated, and your practitioner will advise at consultation.
Will the veins come back?
Treated vessels are permanently closed. However, new spider veins can develop elsewhere over time; any new concerns can be addressed with a further session.
How much does Veinwave treatment cost?
Pricing depends on the extent of the veins being treated and what is agreed for you and is confirmed in writing at your consultation, with no obligation to proceed.
